Product Details

The SPIGEN SGP Steinheil GLAS for the iPad Mini is a chemically processed glass that maintains touch sensitivity of the LCD screen. The iPad Mini GLAS offers the same sleek and delicate feel as the original LCD screen. In addition, the specially processed glass is highly protective against scratches and helps to absorb external impact. Anyone can use this product as it is easy to install. The strong glass material leaves the touch sensitivity of the GLAS unaffected and maintains the same feel as the actual iPad Mini screen.

  • Colored Frames: The outer portion of the LCD screen is framed in translucent black and white colors.
  • Surface Hardness : 8~9H: The surface of the GLAS is 8~9H and three times stronger than regular PET film. The GLAS is highly scratch resistant from sharp objects like knives and keys.
  • Clarity and Delicate Touch: Chemically treated, the transparency of the glass is crystal clear. The adhesive silicone makes installation easy without interfering with touch sensitivity.
  • 0.4mm Thickness: The GLAS is a slim 0.4mm chemically processed product that does not affect the sensors of the device in any way.
  • Oleophobic Coating: The GLAS has an oleophobic coating that prevents fingerprints and other contaminants and makes the film easy to clean.
  • Screen Protection: The GLAS is not only strong against scratches, but helps to protect the device from external impact. The GLAS will break off into harmless pieces that will not affect the actual screen of the device.

*The strength of the adhesive silicone can wear if the GLAS is continually taken off for re-installment. We do not recommend re-installing a GLAS that has already been applied.

Q. Can I use the GLAS with a SmartCover?

A. Yes! Our GLAS for the iPad Mini is compatible with the Apple SmartCover.

Q. What's the difference between the iPad Mini GLAS and the iPad Mini GLAS.t?

A. The only difference betweem the GLAS and the GLAS.t is that the GLAS will have a colored border and the GLAS.t is completely transparent.

Q. Will the H10/H12/H14 Stylus Pens be compatible with the iPad Mini?

A. The Stylus pens will not be compatible with the iPad Mini.

Q. How do I install the GLAS?

A. Use the provided alcohol swab to clean your iPad. The tab labeled "Back 2" is the protective film that covers the adhesive (sticky) side of the screen protector. The tab labeled "Front 1" is the protective film that covers the front of the GLAS. Remove the Back tab and apply the screen protector to the iPad screen aligning with the cutouts. Squeegee any bubbles and then remove the Front tab when finished. The GLAS is a one-shot install. This means that once the screen protector is applied completely to the iPad, it cannot be removed and reapplied. Make sure the GLAS is centered before laying down the GLAS. The GLAS. is 0.4 mm thick and will recess the home button. For easy access to the home button, please apply the home button stickers provided with your GLAS package. If there are air bubbles after installment, please use the squeegee to start pushing outwards from the middle of the screen. Small air bubbles will disappear after a few days to a week.

When applying or removing the product, using unnecessary force may damage the product.

Q. What happens if I mess up on the installation or something goes wrong with my GLAS?

A. You do not have to worry! Your GLAS is protected by our GLAS Low-Cost Replacement Program. Simply return the GLAS product back to us with the replacement form filled out completely. You can find the form here: www.spigen.com/need1more

Q. How do I remove the GLAS?

A. The GLAS can be removed by using a hard card like an ID or credit card. Lift the GLAS with the card from any corner of the screen protector. Once the corner has been lifted off the iPad, hold the corner and remove slowly. If the GLAS cracks, it will not shatter. The GLAS will not damage or leave residue on your iPad screen.

When applying or removing the product, using unnecessary force may damage the product.

Q. Is the Glas a dry installation?

A. Yes. The device screen should be completely dry when installing the GLAS. When you use the alcohol swab to clean the surface of your device, please leave it to completely dry before installing the GLAS. If the surface is not dry, then it can affect the adhesive silicone and cause it to not adhere to the screen and/or create air bubbles resulting from the wet installation.

Q. Is there anything I should take caution of when using the GLAS?

A. The GLAS is a product made of glass. While it is tempered to shatter within the film when dropped, there are some things that need to be aware of when using the GLAS. As with most glass products, the edges of the GLAS is the most vulnerable areas on the screen protector. This means the edges are the most likely to chip or crack when pressure or force is applied to it. If you see that the edges have chipped or have cracks, please remove the GLAS from your device as this can be potentially harmful. Please take care that your device is not accessible to children if your GLAS begins to crack.
We highly recommend that you use a case along with your GLAS screen protector to avoid chipping along the edges.

Q. Can I return the GLAS?

A. Once the blue seal is broken from the casing, it is not elligible for any returns. However, if there are any issues, please send a photo to our Warranty Department for a defect review. Once it is approved they will continue assisting you with your GLAS.

Q. What if I had more questions about the product?

A. Not a problem, just contact our Product Development Customer Support team on HelpDesk! www.spigen.com/contacts

Very pleased Review by Jordan

As a point of reference, I've used both versions of the iPhone Glas.t for the 4S and 5. When I found out that this was now available for the mini I was thrilled, until I saw the price. That's quite a price tag and that alone kept me from ordering it right away. After debating for a couple of weeks I finally bought and and I'm very happy I did so. Not only is it crystal clear and easy to remove smudges, it reduces the hollow feeling that ipad mini's screen has. that has bothered me since day 1 and this has helped a lot!

Using plastic to cover glass is easy and economical but really reduces the wonderful feel a glass screen has. Once you go glass, you won't go back.

Wish I waited Review by Brundles

Well it's not like the quality of the Glastr that I have for my iPhone 5. Still it's a nice product. I wish I waited, because now they have the better quality version for the same price.

Overall good, but not perfect Review by sl02

Pros:
1. Made from real glass!
2. Finger prints can be wiped away fairly easily. You can use the microfiber cloth or even the flat of your palm to wipe it away!!

Cons:
1. The home button sticker when placed on the iPad mini protrudes beyond the level glas.t. That is to say, if you plan to use a smart cover on top of your iPad mini, the cover will inevitably press down on the home button if you decide to put the sticker on it. I had Siri activate unintentionally because of this design flaw and this is the reason why I gave only 2 stars out of 5 for design. If you decide not to put the home sticker button, the home button will be noticeably recessed from the rest of the screen. This may sound like a small gripe, but for $59, I really had higher expectations from the manufacturer. This should have been discovered before marketing a premium product like this.

Finally! Review by Dirty Deeds

Waited a long time for this. And it was worth it. Like anything from Spigen, it is premium and worth the money. I do not plan on getting another iPad Mini for a long time, so I want to keep it protected. Application took about 15 minutes (I took my time) and went on flawlessly. I had to squeegee one small bubble out and that was it. It is a bit overpriced, but not by much. Spigen protects my iPad 3, iPhone 5, and MacBook Pro. If they come out with one for the 27" iMac, I will get that as well.

Best screen protector for your Mini Review by Tyr

I had been waiting for a glass screen protector for the iPad Mini ever since it was released and here it finally is. While waiting I had been reduced to a cheap plastic one and boy was it bad: ill fitting, bumpy and dirty beyond belief after just a week of use. Compare that to the GLAS protector: it looks about a thousand times better, is more clear, doesn't become as dirty thanks to the oleophobic coating and most importantly *feels* like real glass, like an iPad should.

Installation went smoothly. I had been worried about positioning the glass due to the colored border but shouldn't have worried: if you line up the bottom part of the glass with the home button you can just line up the camera hole with the camera and you can't miss. In fact it was easier than installing the Glass.tr on my iPhone because the bigger piece is easier to manoeuvre with both hands. I did need to rub it down longer to get the bubbles out. There were some small patches that looked almost like moisture trapped underneath but all it needed was some intense pressure with a fingernail over a minute or so to get them out. Overall I'd say it's easier to apply than crappy floppy plastic protectors, it's just that you have to deal with the pressure of a one-shot installation.

The product is a joy to use. It does add some extra weight to the iPad mini, it is a pane of glass after all, but it's not bad. The magnets that control the automatic screen illumination of the iPad work, they also still hold the smart cover closed but it is somewhat less grippy and comes loose more easily when held upside down.

Overall this is a very nice product but I did dock some stars on price. It is quite expensive relative to the price of the Mini itself but then that's the price you pay for your baby's protection. I would have given it a 4/5 on value if it had come with just 1 of the aluminium home buttons instead of the plastic ones but you have to order those separately, oh well. In the end there really is no choice, If you want a screen protector you need this one otherwise you're better off using nothing at all.
